Reading Lens Guide

Since 2010, Reading Glasses Etc has offered a wide variety of optical quality frames with innovative reading lens options. We have recently expanded our reading lens selection so that instead of searching for " Plastic Mens Blue Block Bifocal Reading Glasses in +1.50", you can now simply find a frame, select the lens type you want, the reading powers, and the lens options that suit you.

READING LENS TYPES (Not prescription) - Once you find a frame that you like you can select a reading lens type on that page. You can configure only one lens type for that frame. Click a lens type below to learn about what the lenses we offer and how to purchase them.

Single Vision Prescription Lenses require a valid copy of your current eyeglass prescription and PD. There are limits to what prescription we can do in certain lenses.

All of our reading glasses and prescription glasses are made-to-order.

See our Rx Lenses page for more information.

READING LENS OPTIONS - We offer a very wide selection of lens options designed to reduce glare, provide protection from blue light, and address Computer Vision Syndrome issues. Click a lens option type below to learn more.

Anti-Reflective (AR) Coatings $15+

Anti-Reflective coatings (AR) are designed to reduce surface reflections and "pull" more light through the lenses to your eyes. They provide clearer vision by reducing glare and look nicer because they reduce unwanted surface reflections. Standard AR coatings can pull over 99% of light through the lens as opposed to non coated lenses which reflect off 20% of light off of the lens surface.

Blue Block AR coatings do the same thing. They pull more light through the lens but reject/reflect off a percentage of HEV blue light. We offer 4 blue block AR coatings that protect your eyes and help with issues related to Computer Vision Syndrome.

  • Mojo BluBlock AR 50% HEV protection
  • Apex BluBlock AR-T 64% HEV protection
  • Mojo BluBlock 1.6 AR 80% HEV protection
  • Kodak Total Blue 1.6 AR 86% HEV protection

BluBlock AR Coatings are available in Single Vision only.

Lens Tints $10

Lens Tints can be simply cosmetic or address vision issues llike CVS, insomnia, and photophobia.

Cosmetic tints are colors like pink or blue and can add a bit of flair. While these tints look nice, they do not address HEV blue light.

12 Blue Block Tints! Our proprietary Mojo BluBlock Tints are lens filters that provide HEV blue light protection while allowing beneficial blue light through. This balance of blue light filtration and transmission provides better contrast and less color distortion than traditionaly over tinted blue block lenses.

We also offer intensly tinted Therapy Tints like Mojo BluBlock Therapy Orange and BPI 500 and BPI 550 Tints. These lens tints filter from 75% to 150% of the blue light spectrum.

BluBlock Tints are available in all lens types.
